In most cases, yes we can import kit records for you. Please contact Plymouth Rocket and we can discuss if that is an option for your organization.
What Plymouth Rocket Needs
In order to import kit data into KK, we'll need a spreadsheet of you library's kits. Please click the link below to access the spreasheet format that all of the data should be in
KitKeeper Kit import spreadsheet
What do the fields mean?
Each of the fields on the spreasheet correspond to the fields in the kit records.
Kit Name: The title of book in the kit.
Kit Author: The author of the book.
Kit Genre: Fiction, Nonfiction, etc
Kit Age Group: Adult, Children, Teen
Kit Description: A brief summary of the book.
ISBN: We just need one ISBN. We understand some kits have multiple editions of the same book with different ISBN's. If you would like to include this information, we suggest putting it in the Contents Field.
Barcode: Your library's barcode for that kit. If you have multiple kits with the same title, they should have separate barcodes.
Kit Contents: What the kit contains. Number of copies, discussion guide, DVD...
Kit team: This is the library that owns the kit. If all of the kits are owned by one library such as Library HQ, then you can fill in Library HQ for every field. If the kits are owned by multiple different libraries, then the owning library's name should go here. It is important to put fill in the library name exactly as it is seen in the list of libraries in KK. For more information, please see What is a Team?
Notes:
- Kits can also be entered in manually. For information on how to do so, please see How do I add a Kit?
- Once the kits are imported, it is up to the library to go through and edit the kit records.
- Book cover art is added separetly. We'll help you set that up.
