When adding new kits to KitKeeper, there are two fields required for each kit’s title: Book Title and Book Title for Sorting. These two fields help KK sort and display kit titles correctly in the lists of titles that both patrons and staff see on a daily basis. The following outline will help you fill in the fields correctly so that your lists of kits will be easy to navigate. This procedure only applies to titles being entered into KitKeeper. There is no need to backfill any titles that are already in KK because the Book Title for Sorting field has been filled in automatically.
How to find the Book Title for Sorting field
- Login to KK as Staff
- Scroll down to the Kits field in the blue admin box and click Add/Modify Information
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Add New Kit link.
- Here you will find the Book Title and Book Title for Sorting fields.

Can I change sort order for the Staff Action Table?
Yes! You can choose to display kits either alphabetically by title or alphabetically by author. Because we have built in the Book Title for Sorting field, that means that any time you sort by title, KK will put the kits proper alphabetical order by ignoring the articles. Here is how to set up you own sorting preferences:
- Login to KK as Staff
- Scroll down to Organization Info and click Modify Configuration
- Find the Action List Sort Order field and follow the example indicated in blue to customize your sort order. If left blank, KK will automatically sort all kits alphabetically by author’s last name.
